Be Still

What is the one request or command we as parents give to our children? "Be Still!" How many times have you said this in your life time? And how many times has it been said to you? Thousands of times if you were honest.

Getting still and quiet is hard for kids....especially with all of their energy and activity. Their brains are firing with ideas, imaginations, and hopes for the rest of the day. It is truly hard to get them to be still. So when we asked that of them....we are definitely asking a hard thing.

God has the same trouble with His children. It is difficult for Him to get us to be still and quiet. As His kids, we are full of movement, anxieties of the day, and future dread of what tomorrow may bring. Our brains are constantly trying to figure out how to get out of one mess after another. Never in peace, always doubting, lacking, and just trying to hurry through the day.

The last thing the enemy wants you to do is to be still and quiet before the Lord. When I get still and quiet physically....I go to sleep. I can be sitting straight up in my chair. I get relaxed and forget about the issues of life....and just go to sleep. Its the same thing with God, if we would just make time to get into His presence, and rest...get quiet and still before Him...and let our spirits and bodies rest in Him....what a difference that would make in our lives.

There a song we sing in church that says..."and the things on earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace."

Have I stepped on your toes yet? Here is the verses that stopped me cold this morning as I read them:

Psalm 46:10, 11 says..."Cease striving (be still) and know that I am God, the Lord of Host is with us..."

Hey....be still today and see what God will do!

Enjoying Life Today!

Stan
