What Is It That You Are Asking For?

I get tickled at my youngest because she always wants a bandaid...whether she is hurt or not, bleeding or not, or just because...she wants a bandaid.  Because all kids know that "bandaids make everything better".

We are like that in our every day lives, aren't we?  We want a bandaid for the problem, a quick solution to get us through.  One thing about bandaids is that they don't last forever.  Sooner or later, you have got to change the bandage.  Sooner or later, the problem will return unless you get to the source of the problem to get to the ultimate solution.

I was reminded of this today as I was thinking about Elisha and Elijah in 2 Kings 2:9-14.  Elisha knew that Elijah would not be around long, so he asked him for a double portion of your his spirit to be given to him.  So, what happened, you know the story, that as Elijah was taken up in a chariot of fire, that his mantle fell down to Elisha.  It was not just a double portion, but a representation of the source of Elijah's power...which came from God.

Elijah just did not give Elisha a bandaid...a quick fix or boost.  But he gave him the source of his power...the mantle of the Lord.

What is it that you are asking for in life?  A simple solution, a bandaid to your financial problems, an easy marriage fix that will make everything alright?

I just don't want to have a blessing, or a quick solution from God.  But I want to be connected to his power today and every day.  Bandaids are good, but I want to be connected to the real Problem Solver!  Get connected to God today and see how He can turn your life around.  And yes...Elisha's life was never the same from that day forward!

Enjoying Life Today!
Stan
