It has been said many times that if you do not believe something that you will fall for anything. In this day and age....believing people and ideologies is a difficult thing. You do not know who is trying to pull the wool over your eyes.
But I have found someone and something to believe in that is the "real deal". That someone is Jesus and that something is His Word...the Bible. Jesus is one person that has never let me down. He has never dealt harshly with me...at least it has never seemed that way to me. He has always been true to what He told me. And every promise He has given me....He has made good on. HOW'S THAT FOR A TRACK RECORD! He truly is the "real deal".
God's Word...the Bible, what more can I say about it than it has stood the test of time. Books will come and books will go....but the word of God never goes out of print, does it? It is the most read, most printed, most interpreted, most sought after book to ever exist. And it never gets boring...there is something written in those pages for everyone.
I have found God's word comforting, challenging, gut wrenching, straight forward....and most definitely the words for every season of my life. I have been serving God for many years and I have always found myself listening, waiting, reading, discerning....words from those pages of God's word.
We do not need another manual on how to live for God. We do not need another textbook on how to pray and know what God is saying. We just need to have a personal, intimate relationship with God and read His word. The Bible teaches us that the Holy Spirit "leads us and guides us into all truth". That means to me that when I read the word, I am expecting the Holy Spirit to reveal to me what I need to know from what I read. And the crazy thing is....He does it!
I have been thinking the last couple of days about a song that I have been singing for many years. It is probably more real to me now than ever before in my life. The song is a Steven Curtis Chapman song entitled "My Redeemer is Faithful and True".
Here are some of the lyrics that are churning in my heart today...
My Redeemer is faithful and true
Everything He has said, He will do
Every morning, His mercies are new
My Redeemer is faithful and true
And in every situation, He has proved His love for me
When I lack the understanding, He gives more grace to me
I guess what I am trying to say is....love Him, read of Him, believe Him, cling to Him, call out to Him....cause He is really is the "real deal".
Enjoying Life Today!
Stan
